Lifesaving Station

Located within the historic Caffey's Inlet Life Saving Station No. 5, the renovated Lifesaving Station Restaurant at Sanderling Resort offers a relaxed yet elevated dining experience. This Duck, N.C. restaurant serves three meals a day, celebrating southern coastal cuisine made with regional, organic ingredients. Dine indoors or al fresco, and enjoy the "best breakfast on the Outer Banks" alongside an ever-changing seasonal menu and carefully curated wine and beer selections.       Lifesaving Station

      A BRIEF HISTORY

      Originally built in 1874, Caffey’s Inlet Life Saving Station was one of seven stations along the Atlantic Coast, constructed to assist shipwrecked passengers and crews. Although decommissioned in the 1950s, the building remains a treasure of local history, earning a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Lovingly restored as the Lifesaving Station Restaurant, it now blends historical charm with coastal hospitality. Visitors can explore the space filled with nautical artifacts and memorabilia while enjoying a meal that captures the spirit of the Outer Banks coastline.
